Max is an approximately 5-month-old mixed-breed pup weighing about 32 lbs, and he’s right in that fun, leggy adolescent stage where everything is new and exciting. Based on his looks and build, we believe Max is a hound / bully-type mix (best guess), which means he’s likely to grow into a medium-to-large adult, estimated around 55–70 lbs when fully grown.
Max is settling into his foster home and learning all the important puppy basics — house manners, routines, and what’s expected of him as a family dog. Like most puppies his age, he’s still working on consistency and confidence, but he’s curious and eager to learn. He benefits from structure, positive reinforcement, and patience as he continues to mature.
This handsome boy has an athletic build and will do best in a home ready to provide regular exercise, mental enrichment, and continued training to help him grow into a well-rounded adult dog. With time and guidance, Max is sure to become a loyal, fun companion.
Breed mix is a best guess based on appearance and age; we cannot guarantee breed makeup.
If you’re ready to help a young pup learn, grow, and thrive, Max could be the perfect addition to your family.

More about this rescue
The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.
Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit MO) and KCK Animal Services (Kansas City KS) to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.
Background
Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so many of our adoptions take place at PetSmart stores and occasionally through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs). Visit our website to learn more about us at heartofamericahs.org.
