Izzy is a confident, curious, and energetic pup who approaches life with enthusiasm and a big, goofy smile. She’s incredibly friendly and loves meeting new people, making fast friends wherever she goes. Playtime is her favorite part of the day—especially a good game of fetch, which she could happily play over and over again. Izzy is a smart girl who knows her basic commands and is always eager to learn more, particularly when treats are involved (which is often!). Her treat motivation makes training fun and rewarding, and her playful nature keeps every session full of joy. Whether she’s zooming around with excitement, proudly trotting back with a tennis ball, or just being her happy, silly self, Izzy brings energy and laughter to every moment. Take exit 167 off I-75 and go towards US-41/Tamiami Trail, drive for about 1½ mile and on the right side, you'll see an yellow sign that says animal shelter, make a right on Drance St. and we are at the end of the road.
We are open 7 days a week from 11am-5pm.

The Animal Welfare League is a non-profit organization committed to advocating for animal protection and welfare. We are based in Port Charlotte, Florida. Since 1963 our shelter has served the Charlotte County community by providing a temporary home, medical service and caring attention for many dogs, cats and other animals. These animals come to us as strays, pets given up by their owners, unfortunate animals rescued from abuse and neglect, or simply lost pets in need of being re-united with their families.
