My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Yonna arrived:
Yonna was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on January 3, 2026.

Why Yonna is the one for you:
Meet Yonna! Yonna is a very sweet, gentle boy with a kind heart. While he can be a little shy at first, his loving nature quickly comes through as he gets comfortable and builds trust. Yonna does best with patience and reassurance, and once he feels safe, he enjoys connection and companionship. He loves taking walks with his person and thrives when near his people. Please note that Yonna has two fractured teeth and may need a sedated dental procedure with your veterinarian in the future. With a calm, supportive home and adopters who appreciate a softer, sensitive personality, Yonna is sure to blossom into a loyal and affectionate best friend. Don't forget to bring a leash and collar for a safe ride home!

At SDHS:
Yonna has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Yonna is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
