My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Marshmellow! I'm a bit shy at first, but still a very friendly and curious guy. I came here in rough shape and had to undergo surgery on my hip and have my broken tail partially amputated, but don't worry I'm getting stronger everyday! Thank you to the staff who has shown me such love and care! Even though I'm healing you'll find I love exploring my cozy nook at the shelter and finding quiet spots for a good nap. When I'm feeling particularly brave I'll even come up to the door and meow for your attention. I'm looking for a patient and loving family who can give me a peaceful home where I can blossom and share my gentle love. I could use a special someone with a gentle voice, a tender touch, and a loving heart! Adopting me means gaining a loyal friend who's always ready to listen and snuggle by your side.

Established in 1929, Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) offers quality adoptions, affordable spaying/neutering, vaccinations and microchipping services, pet care services and education programs to enhance the human-animal bond. HSSV operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We are the first organization in the country to meet the guidelines put forth by the Association of Shelter Veterinarians for standards of care for shelter animals: We are the first model shelter.

We are also the first animal community center in the nation to receive Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Our mission is to save lives, keep families together, and create a better future for pets and their people.

Our vision is a world where all animals can thrive, all people experience the magic of the human-animal bond, and all families are able to care for their pets.
