Take the Pet Home
This helps Loved At Last Dog Rescue with pet care costs.
Hi, I’m Groot Here is a little info about me:
Breed: Jindo/Spitz mix
Age: 10 Months
Gender: Male
Weight: 13 lb
Highlight(s): Good with other dogs, gentle, social
I came into this world with a rough start. I was reported as a stray on Christmas Day 2025, scared and dealing with a skin condition. I lost my sibling along the way, but I kept going—and on January 5th, I finally found safety in a loving foster home with one small dog and three bigger dogs. That’s where I’m learning what it means to feel secure.
I’m a little shy at first and need a few days (about 3–7) to settle in. Giving me space works better than treats at the beginning. Once I warm up, though, I turn into a total sweetheart—I’ll let you pet me, lift me, sit on your lap, and I might even roll over to show you my belly. I’m very gentle, docile, and great with kids.
Dogs are my comfort zone. I truly love other dogs and will happily approach any size to ask for play. I feel most confident when I have dog friends around, so I’d really love a forever home with another dog I can rely on.
I have a moderate energy level—I enjoy outdoor activities and walks, then I’m happy to relax and stay calm at home. The outside world still makes me nervous sometimes, and when I’m scared, I might lie down and refuse to walk. I’m learning leash skills every day with my foster family and improving steadily.
I’m crate-trained, rarely bark, don’t try to escape, and I haven’t shown any aggression or resource guarding with people or dogs. I don’t have separation anxiety either. I’m about 90% house-trained and still polishing my manners. Car rides make me a bit anxious, so I’ll need help being lifted into the car.
I haven’t met cats yet, but with patience, kindness, and ideally a dog sibling, I know I’ll continue to blossom. I’m a gentle soul looking for a calm, loving forever home where I can finally feel safe.
I get along with:
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Unsure
Kids: Yes
Fears: Non observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.
Leash skills: Yes. Please be prepared to continue training.
House trained: 90% house trained. Please be paitient and prepare to assist me learn where to go in my new home.
Health notes: I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
My adoption fee is $850.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.
Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.
Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.
The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.
Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.

As adopters of overseas dogs will be taking their dog home from the airport, they have a couple of weeks to decide if the dog is a fit.
