My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello from Nutella! She is a 2 year old spayed female tortie, and boy does she have quite the personality! Silly? Funny? Sassy? Strange? Yes, all of the above! Our staff and volunteers have been working very hard for quite some time to figure out this little lady, and there are two things we can say for sure. She loves treats, and she loves to tease. She will chirp, walk up to you, sniff your finger, and right when you think you`re gonna get a headbutt... She takes a step back & gives you the most offended face you`ve ever seen. So stinky! Some of us here at the shelter have been able to give some pats on Nutty`s head and she will purr & enjoy it. It is short lived, but when it happens, it is lovely.

So, bottom line, Nutella is not a cat that is going to rub on your legs all the way up the hallway, or snuggle up in your lap while you watch TV. She teases us and flirts with us, meaning she enjoys your company, but does not necessarily seek out physical attention. This could change as time goes on if you go slow with her and work with her every day, but there is a high possibility she is going to lean very independent.

Due to this reserved personality, we do not think she would do well with children or busy teens. She may appreciate another cat in the home that is friendly & playful, they may help show Nutty the ropes on being a house cat. As for dogs, she may be able to coexist with a calmer dog that will not pay her too much attention.

Do you have buckets of patience & have some extra room in your home for a silly tortie who just wants to live out her days in a cozy home watching birds out the window from a cat tree? Follow the steps below to come meet Nutella!

Our shelter is open Tuesday-Sunday from 12-4 (closed Mondays). If you are interested in this pet, please review our adoption process at www.lowellhumanesociety.org/adoption/#process so you`re prepared to adopt & stop by the shelter with the required information to take home this pet.

You must be 18 years or older to adopt an animal. A valid ID is required.

If you own your own home, please provide proof of home-ownership; a mortgage receipt, tax bill, water bill or deed will suffice.

If you rent, please bring your lease which states the type of pet you are interested in and that it is accepted or the name and phone of your landlord so we can verify the pet is allowed. Inquire with your landlord about any size or breed restrictions.

Please check with your home owner’s insurance company or landlord to find out if they have any restrictions on the breed(s) of dog they cover. Common breeds that may not be covered include: Pit Bulls, Doberman Pinschers, Rottweilers and German Shepherds.

For the health and safety of the pet you are interested in adopting and your existing pets, we ask that you provide proof of current vaccinations and spay/neuter status for pets in your home. (We may be able to call your veterinarian if you do not have a copy available.)

A new pet is a family decision and we ask that all members of your family meet the pet and agree on the suitability for your household.

If you already have a dog(s) in your home please bring the dog(s) with you to meet the dog you are considering to see if they are compatible.

Complete an adoption application and talk with a staff member for more information about the animal you are considering.
