Meet Penny!
Penny is a two year old female cat looking for a cozy home and gentle human companion to call her own. Sweet but sensitive, Penny can take longer than the average cat to adjust to new people and places. She needs a human, or family, who will give her the time and space she needs to acclimate to her new home before showing off her loving personality.
We do not know if Penny has lived with other cats previously. As a result we highly recommend a slow introduction between Penny and any feline friends in her forever home. A slow intro will help ensure that both Penny and her new cat companions feel safe and comfortable as they adjust to each other`s presence.

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. 6 months or under: $175
6 months to 5 years: $125
6 years or older (or special needs): $50
Cats
6 months or under: $75 (or two kittens for $100)

Senior to Senior Program: For adopters age 60 or older, adoption fees are reduced to $15 if the animal is 3 years or older. This service is made possible through the Pets for the Elderly Foundation. You will be asked to provide proof of age.
Veteran Pet Program: Veterans and active military personnel receive 25% off of adoption fees. Valid military ID is required.

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
