We'd love to welcome Pimienta into the Fetch + Releash family on the next available flight. In order to secure a spot on the flight, he needs a committed foster-to-adopt family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you’ll be expected to take him home that same day. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.
Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog’s nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.
Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet Mississauga, ON for further vet care.
During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.
Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.
Pimienta / Male / 1 year old / 20 lbs / Terrier Mix / From Mexico
Pimienta is a young, tender-hearted boy who wants nothing more than to be someone’s very best friend. He was found abandoned in a vacant lot during a thunderstorm with his sister, shivering, scared, and begging for help. While his sister sadly did not survive, Pimienta did, and he carries both resilience and a deep capacity for love into everything he does.
Described by his caregivers as sweet, affectionate, and a little bit awkward, Pimienta is wonderfully social with people and friendly with other dogs, even if he is not entirely sure how to play with them. He tries his best, which often involves standing a little too close and making a strange howling noise. It is endearing. We try not to embarrass him by talking about it too much. With humans, he is all heart and happily curls up on laps, soaking in praise and fully believing he is the most handsome boy in the world. In your arms, he is still very much a baby.
Pimienta walks nicely on leash and has a low to medium energy level. He enjoys gentle activity followed by plenty of closeness and comfort. He is not crate trained and his house training is still a work in progress, but he settles well and responds beautifully to kindness and reassurance.
Pimienta is a distemper survivor and was treated in August 2025. As a result, he has mild residual tremors affecting his head and legs. He appears to be perpetually at an Anthrax concert. The tremors do not impact his quality of life, and he remains happy, affectionate, and engaged.
Pimienta would thrive in a home where he is deeply loved and allowed to leave his difficult beginning far behind. He is an inquisitive, genuinely sweet young dog who would do well in a larger, active family or with anyone willing to give him the affection and security he has always deserved.
Pimienta is ready for a future that includes soft beds, full hearts, and someone who never lets go of him.

More about this rescue
Established in 2016, Fetch + Releash is a volunteer run dog rescue dedicated to saving dogs in need. Our foster dogs come from a variety of different backgrounds such as shelters, strays and surrendered pets, both locally and abroad. Through our network of volunteers, foster homes, trainers and veterinarians, we strive to give every dog the loving forever family they deserve. As a foster-based rescue, our dogs live in private homes across the Greater Toronto Area where they receive the love and attention they need to ready them for adoption.
A dog is a lifetime commitment and not to be discarded due to health, lifestyle change or inconvenience. Some of the top reasons dogs end up in shelters are lack of training, lifestyle changes (i.e. new baby, marriage), relocation, cost of dog ownership, not enough time for pet etc. Our goal is to ensure our adoptive families are well versed in the realities of dog ownership and ready to make a lifetime commitment.
