My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lil Guy Lou is tall, handsome, and endearingly goofy! My fave! This is the kind of dog who might still be figuring out the rules of the world, but is doing it with a genuinely good heart and making sure it’s always a good time. Plus, he has a great face and eyebrows I am jealous of.
Before you read too far, take a moment to watch Lil Guy Lou’s video and see his personality, and the eyebrows in action, then come back to read more about him.

Lou is estimated to be 2.5 years old, he weighs 56 lbs, and is possibly a Husky/Anatolian mix but honestly, he is a rescue and one the left us scratching our head. Kelpie was an observation too, so was Rottie… basically when you get the DNA results, please share. Now Lou sure looks like a boy who would know his way around a toy basket but somehow, thats not the case. He clearly hasn’t had access to all the “dog things” yet -toys included -but watching his budding interest grow might be a top-teir feeling in the rescue world. You can see his curiosity and excitement and it’s easy to imagine just how much joy he’ll bring (and get!) once he settles into home life. When it comes to affection, he’s gentle and steadfast, he loves giving kisses and approaches people with a soft, hopeful sweetness. Never pushy or demanding.
On leash, Lou is very excited about the world and meets new dogs with enthusiasm. He greets new dogs with friendly excitement in a way that makes you think he is eager to play but once friends are made he settles into a much more aloof, independent rhythm - sniffing, wandering, and doing his own thing rather than insisting on play. He will politely join a game of chase but falls back and practically runs at .5 speed. Because he is polishing his leash manners and pass dogs without thinking all are about to be a new friend. Because he loves milling around the yard soaking up the smells we would love to see her in a home with a yard. A home with space and adopters who know he will need to work on leash skills will set him up for success. With other dogs, Lou has polite manners and listens well to canine communication. He would benefit from living with another stable, playful dog who can help him feel grounded - though he doesn’t need a dog to be happy. He’s more interested in people than anything else.
Lou is extremely excited to meet everyone, people and dogs alike - and because of that enthusiasm, we think a home with older kids would be best, so he can enjoy the connection without worrying about knocking them over or kissing a little too much. He will also need a cat-free home, as he was far too interested and even got a little chatty when meeting our house cat.
Lil Guy Lou is a dog with a big heart and a goofy grin! This boy was built for someone who enjoys helping a good boy become a great one while having a great time! Lou is ready to grow right alongside you.

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about creating lasting matches between dog and family for long term success, and take the time to ensure each adoption is a fit through our matchmaking process.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
