Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Mozzarella — a soft, quiet little gentleman with the heart of melted cheese.
Mozzarella is a shy boy at first. He’s the kind of cat who will politely observe you from a safe distance like, “Yes hello, I see you… I am simply evaluating the situation.” He isn’t rude — just cautious. New places and new people make him a little nervous, but once he realizes you’re kind and your hands deliver gentle pets, he absolutely melts.
And when Mozzarella melts… oh boy. He turns into a purring, leaning, head-butting cuddle puddle.
He just needs someone who understands that trust is built in slow blinks and soft voices. No sudden movements, no grabby hands — just patience and kindness. Give him a little time and he’ll reward you by pressing his tiny face into your hand like you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to him.
Mozzarella’s personality is: • 70% sweet • 20% timid • 10% secretly desperate for affection
He enjoys cozy hiding spots, warm blankets, and quiet company. He’s not the “center of attention” type — he’s the “best friend sitting next to you on the couch” type. The kind of cat who bonds deeply and loves wholeheartedly once he feels safe.
If you’re looking for a calm companion who will blossom with love and patience, Mozzarella is your guy. Go slow, be gentle, and you’ll discover that underneath that shy shell is the softest, sweetest little cheese ball you could ever hope to meet.More information? More about this shelter
Marion Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization incorporated in 1967 under ORC 1717. We strive to educate, assist and protect the animals of the Marion area. Since 1986 have operated a shelter to provide a humane environment for homeless animals. In 2011 several generous donors and grants made it possible for a shelter renovation and addition of a separate intake section. MAHS operates a open-admissions shelter with a guilt and fee free surrender policy, to encourage owners who can not properly care or maintain proper living conditions for their pets to do the best thing for the pet. MAHS also provides humane investigations and a spay/neuter voucher program for Marion county.
