My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Howser — a soft little calico with a heart full of sweetness and a flair for quiet mischief 💗

Howser is a ~3-month-old female calico who embodies the phrase gentle soul. She’s on the shy side at first, but once she feels safe, her true personality shines through: calm, clever, and oh-so-snuggly. She gets along wonderfully with other cats and kids, making her a lovely fit for a peaceful, cat-friendly home.

This sweet girl loves her jingle jungle ball toys and is happiest curled up in a cozy bed perched on a high shelf, where she can observe the world from above. Her silliest habit? Somehow always finding the smallest possible crevice to tuck herself into — and then launching surprise pounces on her brother before scampering off in an adorable game of kitten tag.

One of Howser’s most endearing qualities is her teeny-tiny meow and the softest, most babyish kitten hisses you’ve ever heard. And if you look closely, you’ll spot her foster’s favorite detail: a tiny orange stripe on the left side of her face that makes her absolutely unforgettable.

Howser is a bit sensitive to loud noises, preferring a calm environment where she can feel secure. She’s also a picky eater with opinions, so having a couple of wet food options on hand is key. Currently, she enjoys Purina One Kitten food, along with Sheba Cuts or Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers (chicken) — plus she never says no to Churu or Temptations treats.

Her story began in a large outdoor colony, where she was found as a tiny kitten with her siblings. Since then, she’s been lovingly fostered, learning that humans are kind, warm, and excellent for snuggling.

One special thing to know about Howser: while she isn’t formally bonded, she would love to be adopted alongside her brother, Holler. The two share a sweet sibling connection filled with gentle wrestling matches, playful games of tag, and the comfort of growing up together. Having Holler by her side gives Howser extra confidence, and together they make the perfect balance — playful fun and quiet cuddles. Adopting them as a pair would mean double the love and an easier transition into their forever home. 🐾💗

More about this rescue

🐾 Our Mission at Billy the Kidden Rescue 🐾

Billy the Kidden Rescue is a VDACS-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded in 2014 and supported by a network of over 60 active foster homes across Hampton Roads.

Our mission is to improve the lives of displaced cats and reduce the feral cat population in our community by socializing outdoor-born and feral kittens—transforming them into loving, adoptable pets and placing them in safe, forever homes.

💙 Our Heart is in TNR
We are proud advocates of TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return)—the humane, effective method of managing community cats. Through this program, feral cats are:

✔️ Trapped
✔️ Neutered or Spayed
✔️ Vaccinated
✔️ Ear-Tipped (as a universal sign they've been fixed)
✔️ Returned to live safely in their outdoor colonies without contributing to overpopulation.

We are actively working to promote legal and social acceptance of TNR in Hampton Roads.

🐱 Feral Kitten Socialization
Our feral kitten socialization program is one of a kind—with a 90% success rate in helping feral-born kittens become affectionate, in-home pets. Through experienced fostering, patience, and love, these kittens learn to trust, play, and thrive indoors.

💪 Get Involved!
We’re always looking for passionate animal lovers to join our team. Help us make a difference by becoming a:
