My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🌸 Meet Clove — The Gentle Fetch-Playing Shadow Cat 🌸

Breed/Color: Dilute Calico with a bobbed tail (Manx mix)
Bonded With: Her sister, Sydney (must be adopted together)

Clove is one of those quietly special cats who wins your heart without ever demanding the spotlight. She’s affectionate, gentle, and patient, happiest when she’s simply beside you — not in the way, just present. Whether she’s curled up at your feet, snuggled next to you on the couch, or tucked in close with her sister Sydney, Clove brings a calm, comforting presence to any room.

And then there’s her party trick… Clove plays fetch. 🥹
She’ll bring you her favorite soft sparkly ball (or any toy she finds acceptable), drop it at your feet, and wait patiently for you to throw it again — over and over. It’s goofy, charming, and completely irresistible.

✨ Personality & Quirks
Clove is a beautifully balanced mix of affectionate, clever, curious, gentle, goofy, independent, patient, playful, and quirky, with just a touch of shy at first. She may need a little time to warm up to new people, but once she does, her sweet personality shines.

Talks and trills to herself while playing

Smart and observant, always watching what you’re doing

Sometimes gently puts her front paws on your shoulder to ask for pets or a toy toss

Occasionally hops onto shoulders — and is impressively polite about it (no claws!)

Clove enjoys head and cheek scratches, brushing sessions, and will even accept belly rubs once she’s comfortable. If you reach straight toward her head, she may duck at first — but don’t be fooled, she does love affection and seeks it out on her own terms.

🧸 Favorites

Toys: Laser pointer, fuzzy worm wand toys, and her beloved sparkly ball

Sleeping spots: At your feet, beside you, or cuddled up with Sydney

Food: Purina One Kitten food; enjoys Churus, Temptations, and occasional wet food (but isn’t treat-obsessed)

🐾 Good to Know

Gets along well with other cats

Dogs and kids are unknown

Her little nub tail is slightly crooked — she was born that way, and it just adds to her charm

💛 Her Story
Clove is part of the “Mountain Crew,” rescued from a severe hoarding situation in the mountains. She and Sydney were among the last kittens saved — filthy, flea-covered, and starving. At first, they would overeat until they couldn’t move, unsure when food would come again. With time, love, and consistency, they learned they were finally safe.

Now, Clove is thriving — a sweet, quirky, playful little soul who wants nothing more than companionship, comfort, and a forever home with her sister Sydney by her side.

More about this rescue

🐾 Our Mission at Billy the Kidden Rescue 🐾

Billy the Kidden Rescue is a VDACS-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded in 2014 and supported by a network of over 60 active foster homes across Hampton Roads.

Our mission is to improve the lives of displaced cats and reduce the feral cat population in our community by socializing outdoor-born and feral kittens—transforming them into loving, adoptable pets and placing them in safe, forever homes.

💙 Our Heart is in TNR
We are proud advocates of TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return)—the humane, effective method of managing community cats. Through this program, feral cats are:

✔️ Trapped
✔️ Neutered or Spayed
✔️ Vaccinated
✔️ Ear-Tipped (as a universal sign they've been fixed)
✔️ Returned to live safely in their outdoor colonies without contributing to overpopulation.

We are actively working to promote legal and social acceptance of TNR in Hampton Roads.

🐱 Feral Kitten Socialization
Our feral kitten socialization program is one of a kind—with a 90% success rate in helping feral-born kittens become affectionate, in-home pets. Through experienced fostering, patience, and love, these kittens learn to trust, play, and thrive indoors.

💪 Get Involved!
We’re always looking for passionate animal lovers to join our team. Help us make a difference by becoming a:
