After spending this week’s freeze in a cozy foster home along with sister Anyra, we’ve got the inside scoop on AKIYA, our 5-month-old Black Mouth Cur mix!
💎 Sweet Soul: Her foster describes her as "extremely affectionate and kind." She’s a professional cuddler!
💎 House Manners: She's excellent in her kennel and does a great job waiting to go potty outside.
💎 Simple Joys: Akiya loves meal time and is obsessed with her toys.
💎 Social Butterfly: She plays great with her sister and other dogs.
💎 Leash Walks: She can be a little timid on a leash at first, but she’s a brave girl! With just a little encouragement, she’s already improving!

The shelter is located at 589 Coolwater Drive in Bastrop Texas. Please come meet our pets Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide and their eternal gratitude when they find their forever home at last.
