My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cookie

Age: ~4 years (estimated)

Sex: Female (Spayed)

Breed: Jindo mix

Color: Brindle

Weight: 10 kg

Height: 43 cm

Rescue Story

Cookie was rescued from a municipal shelter just before euthanasia.

Despite everything she has been through, she is a gentle, curious, and emotionally steady little dog who adapts beautifully to new environments.

‍‍ With People

Cookie is a softly affectionate, respectful girl.

• Shy at first, but takes treats and warms up quickly

• Allows handling and can be comfortably lifted

• Shows her belly when she feels safe

• Has not lived with children under 13 yet

• Loves to follow her person, but stops when asked

• Greets you with full-body wiggles when you return

She is curious and observant rather than fearful, and she enjoys being near her people without being demanding.

With Other Dogs

Cookie has wonderful, polite dog manners.

• Friendly with both larger and smaller dogs

• Initially cautious, then invites play within 1–2 days

• Respects boundaries if another dog asks for space

• Often chooses to lie down calmly near people or dog friends

Cats & Environment

• On walks, she notices cats but stays focused on her handler

• Not sensitive to outside noises

• Not afraid of vacuum cleaners, furniture being moved, or household activity

At Home

Cookie is exceptionally well-mannered indoors.

• 100% outdoor potty trained — no accidents

• Very quiet — no nuisance barking

• No destructive behaviour

• Sleeps calmly alone with the door closed

• Calm in a kennel

• Gets in and out of the car by herself

Handling & Grooming

Cookie is very tolerant of handling.

• Allows full body handling, including teeth

• Waits patiently for paw wiping after walks

• Comfortable wearing clothes and hats

Food & Enrichment

• Eats slowly and finishes her meals

• Food-motivated and easy to train

• Drinks water well on her own

• Loves nose-work toys and food puzzles

On Walks

• Walks nicely without pulling

• Always does her potty outside

• Ignores barking dogs when called

• Notices strangers and cars but stays calm and focused

Personality

Cookie is gentle, curious, emotionally stable, and deeply polite.

She does not startle easily, does not overreact, and naturally chooses calm, thoughtful behaviour.

She would be a wonderful match for:

First-time dog owners

Apartment or condo living

Homes wanting an easy, quiet companion

Multi-dog households

Cookie is the kind of dog who makes life feel peaceful.

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.

Our dog rescue work depends on our flight volunteers. They help us safely bring our dogs from Korea to Vancouver or Toronto airports, where the dogs will find loving forever or foster homes.
