My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ivy is a small greyhound (about 60 lbs.), a dark brindle girl with a beautiful "ghost" face. She is already completely home acclimated, and has wonderful house manners. She has lived in a home with other greyhounds and Italian greyhounds for several years, but now needs a new home because her former owners moved out of state and could not take her. She is sweet and gentle and very easy to care for. She walks quietly by your side while on a leash and rides fine in a car or SUV. Ivy gets along fine with other dogs, but is currently in a foster home as an only dog, and does fine that way as well. She also gets along with cats, so would be a good choice if you are looking for a quiet, gentle dog to live with your cats. Ivy is considered a senior dog because she turned 8 years old in June. She has some sleep startle, meaning that she becomes frightened when she is touched while sleeping. For this reason, we do not recommend her for a home with very small children (under the age of 5 or 6), who would not know to leave her alone while she is sleeping. We consider Ivy to be a "special needs" greyhound because she has an eye condition known as pannus (chronic superficial keratitis), which is a non-painful corneal disease that is easily controlled with eye drops. A bottle of the eye drops that Ivy needs can be ordered for $42 for a 5-week supply. Otherwise, Ivy is in excellent health and will be a wonderful companion. Ivy will come to you already spayed, her teeth cleaned, all vaccines, a leash and collar, grooming mitt, adoption guide, and a supply of her eye medication. For more information or to meet Ivy, please contact us at 813/272-2332.
