Their adoption process
All adopters (and fosters) must sign a contract promising such things as regular vet care; animal will not live outside; etc. Most importantly, they must return the dog to us if they no longer can keep it.
Adoption steps
- Submit ApplicationI am a small organization which only has up to five dogs at any one time. I personally deal with all applications.
- Meet the PetApplicant must come to foster's home to meet the dog; an interview takes place at that time.
- Home CheckReferences are checked prior to home check.

Since we are so very small, potential adopters will come to the fosters' homes to meet the dogs.
More about this rescue
For the past ten years, I have placed dogs in the DC area. Most of them have come from the Director of the Wetzel County Animal Shelter in West Virginia. I have placed about 80 dogs in that time - usually just one dog at a time. I have recently begun working with a shelter in Mexico where I have a house (Sociedad Protectora de Animales) in San Miguel de Allende. We have had a large fundraiser and I will be bringing up five dogs at a time to find homes for over the next few years. SPA has a wonderful website which you can check out and we have a Facebook page about our project. We are bringing our first five up on April 5th 2019.
Please note: Almost all my dogs come fully spayed/neutered/vaccinated and healthy. I rarely have to use a vet for them, but have occasionally. The vet listed is primarily the one I use for my personal dogs. The Wetzel County Shelter would be a good reference for me.
