When we first meet, you might notice that I'm a bit shy and fearful. But don't let that fool you! With a little time and patience, you'll discover that I'm a lovely, friendly lady who just needs a bit of love and understanding to come out of my shell.

One of my favorite activities is playing with toys, especially when there's someone to play tug-of-war with me. I'm also highly treat-motivated-whether it's people, treats or praises, they make my tail wag like crazy.

I must admit, my leash manners are still a work in progress. With a dedicated handler who can provide some TLC, I'm confident that I'll master my leash skills in no time. I have some basic obedience skills under my belt, and with cheerful praises and yummy treats, I'll quickly become a smart cookie.

While I'm friendly with my human companions, I can be selective around other pup friends and prefer to have my people all to myself. Though I haven't had the chance to meet feline friends yet.

Their adoption process

Submit Application

Applications can be completed online at Georgina.ca/PetAdoption or in person at the adoption centre.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Approve Application

Although applications are considered as they are received, the adoption candidate selected will be based on the most suitable match.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

Please have a valid form of government issued photo ID at the time of adoption.

5.
Pay Fee

Payment may be made by cash, debit, or credit (MC or Visa)

6.
Take the Pet Home

Each pet parent will receive a follow up call or email to ensure that their pet is settling in and to answer any questions they may have.

Additional adoption info

All pets available for adoption through the Georgina Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and will have received a parasite preventative or treatment. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs and $175 for cats plus tax. If applicable, the purchase of a pet license will be required at the time of adoption.

Before considering pet adoption, potential pet parents are encouraged to do their own research on the type of pet that they are interested in adopting. Different breeds, for example, can have very different exercise needs or may be prone to certain genetic conditions. It is also a good idea to speak with your local veterinarian to gain insight about the type of pet you are considering adopting and the initial and yearly animal care costs involved with pet ownership.

All adoptions require an application and an in person or phone consultation prior to be being approved.
