My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bernard will be available for adoption after his neuter on 1/28/2026

Foster Profile: Meet Bernard, the sweetest little guy despite a rough start. Bernard is a very affectionate, loving guy. He was quite fearful when he arrived, but he’s getting more brave and playful every day and his funny personality is really starting to shine! He is happiest snuggling next to you or giving you licks, but is loving sniffing around the yard and learning to play with toys. Despite his small stature - short legs and long body - he is not your typical barker, so far, just at a dog on tv.
We don’t believe Bernard had ever been on a leash before, so we’re still working on all our basic manners. He is not yet house broken, but is consistent about using a pee pad and his foster mom is working with him on this ongoing training. He will need consistent, ongoing training in his forever home, but he’s food motivated and eager to please so we believe training will be relatively easy and he gains his confidence. Bernard loves his crate and happily sleeps overnight and is quiet during the day when needed, it’s definitely his safe space.

Bernard spent some time with another small dog and we believe having another confident dog in the house could be great for his confidence. He has not been cat tested yet, but given his calm demeanor, we’re suspecting a cat would also be okay. If you’re looking for a super cute, loving companion, Bernard may just be your guy!

Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, heartworm test, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization (ID 81-5101166).

Animal Information: Bernard is an estimated 1-year-old male Chihuahua mix weighing approximately 12 lbs. Bernard was brought in as a stray in Tulare, and was just terrified being in a shelter environment. Despite his fear, he was soft and sweet with shelter staff. He was at risk for euthanasia due to space, but we couldn't let that happen! We can't wait to see him blossom in foster care.

Animal History: This dog was transferred from Tulare Animal Services, in Tulare CA. He will be transferred via Furry Freight, arriving to foster care on 01/17/26. and available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.
