My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION.
To see more pictures of this dog, please visit our Facebook page and look under “photos” and then “albums”.

4-year-old male Manchester Terrier, about 20 pounds. Prince lives up to his name. He really is a little Prince. He loves to play, take walks, run in the yard, sleep under the covers, and snuggle. Prince truly is a lap dog. He is a very good boy and loves being told so. When you tell him he is a “good boy,” he gets super excited. He is a great listener and takes commands very well. He is exceptionally smart and capable of learning most anything. Currently, he knows come, sit, and laydown. We have been working on “place,” but are not quite there yet. He also knows how to use a doggy door. He is very food motivated, which has been great for training. He also gets lots of compliments on walks for just how pretty he is. He is a handsome boy. Prince is one of those dogs that is energetic but also knows how to relax. A bed is his third favorite place to be, just behind laying outside on the grass in the sunshine or sitting on your lap. Prince would do best in a house with adults only, a yard to play in and walks, daily to a few days a week. Prince is a bit of an escape artist. He will need a home with a securely fenced yard. We are talking 5-6 foot fence with no escape routes, including gaps near the ground or any thing he can use as a boost. He is very savvy and curious about the world outside of your home, which is also why he loves walks. While he does not bark a lot, he does if he sees a neighbor, especially one with a dog, and delivery folks, so shared walls may not be ideal if you live in a busy area. He is great with other dogs. We have 5 others with him now of varying sizes, ages, and attitudes, and he does well with them all. He is very respectful of other dogs’ boundaries and needs. But he would also be a great only dog. He loves to be the center of attention. He has been in rescue ever since he was given up as a puppy, which means he is still learning how to socialize best with humans. This is really only an issue with brand new people and strangers. He will need to be slowly and carefully introduced to new people at first. He is very protective of you and your home. Once he gets to know you, however, you become his favorite person in the world. Prince wants nothing more than to please those he loves. Prince really is a super sweet, loving boy that with a little more training and patience will be the perfect companion. To request an adoption application, email smidgetrescue@hotmail.com

Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at smidgetrescue@hotmail.com or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. 8632781We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. You must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.

More about this rescue

Smidget Rescue was founded in December of 2010. We started off saving small dogs off the euthanasia list in California shelters. We have evolved over the years and now concentrate
on local Washington dogs; from local shelters, direct owner surrenders and strays. We have have found homes for over 3000 dogs since inception.

Our mission is to help rehome homeless and unwanted dogs in Washington State by providing the resources to enable proper matchmaking for the dog and the new family. We do not do same day adoptions because our process requires an application process with reference/background and physical home checks. This process ensures we meet the goals of our mission.
