My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cheeky is a tiny little sweetheart with the biggest ears you’ve ever seen, seriously, they’re almost as tall as she is! She’s mostly black with the most adorable white markings that look like she’s been dipped in sugar, and when she runs, those giant ears bounce around like little wings. She’s only about 8 months old, so she’s still a baby, but already she’s figured out how to be the perfect snuggly sidekick. Cheeky loves to leap into your arms for tight puppy hugs followed by endless kisses, you’ll never need a cuddle buddy again.

See just how perfect she is in her video!

Cheeky is thought to be a Shepherd–Lab mix, though, since she’s a rescue, we can’t say for sure. What we do know is that she’s completely potty trained, kennel trained, and walks politely on leash once she’s comfortable. She also loves car rides, tennis balls, and giving silly little ear sniffs and kisses to her favorite people and furry friends. And because she’s so treat-motivated, she’s an absolute star pupil when it comes to learning new tricks.

Cheeky has been great with kids too! She can handle the hustle and bustle of a household after getting to know everyone and she never adds to that fun energy. She is quiet and just watches what everyone is doing, and will sometimes even follow you just to see what's going on. You'll see her taking baby steps into new rooms, taking a look around, roaming, exploring, and observing everything around her. Before you know it, she has her favorite spots (aka the couch), knows her routine, and has her favorite doggy friend and/or human.

Speaking of dog friends, Cheeky girl is very dog friendly and is currently fostered with multiple dogs in the home and she gets along great with all of them. She is great about matches energies with other dogs, from romping, bouncing, wrestling gently, and throwing paws with dogs who enjoy that style. When play is done, she’ll calmly walk away and enjoy the fresh air. Cheeky is a dog’s dog through and through. She can be a little shy when she first meets new dogs and will do best in a home with a doggy friend that will allow her to get the lay the land, feel comfortable, etc. and then the rest is history. Besties for life!

Cheeky will thrive with a semi-active family that enjoys frequent outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, going to the beach or even casual play time in the yard. A family or individual who appreciates nature and is ready to explore parks, trails, or snowy landscapes would be perfect. While she loves the great outdoors and loves to explore, Cheeky is also an affectionate gal at home and loves to burry her head into you for love. If you enjoy the outdoors but also cherish time spent relaxing indoors, Cheeky is the perfect fit. She would also do best in a home with a backyard as well. A place where she can stretch her legs, check out all of her favorite sniff spots, and roll around in the grass and sunbathe during those beautiful summer days.

With her humongous ears, sugar-dipped paws, and endless supply of cuddles, Cheeky is a one-of-a-kind puppy who’s ready to fill her forever home with love, laughter, and plenty of sloppy kisses.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
