Meet ChaCha, a gentle giant seeking patient hearts! ChaCha is a stunning Great Pyrenees with the classic Pyr look and a luxuriously long, smooth, soft coat. This gorgeous boy came to us as a stray from Indiana, where he likely worked as a livestock guardian, and while his past has left him extremely cautious and fearful around people, he's making steady progress in learning to trust. ChaCha is fully housebroken and leash trained, and he's absolutely wonderful with other animals—he's gentle, submissive, and friendly with all dogs and completely ignores cats. With a moderate activity level, he enjoys playing with his canine companions, patrolling the yard, and going on long walks, and he surprisingly loves car rides once he's settled in! ChaCha thrives outdoors and needs a securely fenced yard (6 feet minimum), a quiet home with other animals, and most importantly, patient adopters who understand fearful dogs and are willing to build trust at his pace. He shows no aggression or behavior issues—just a gentle, graceful soul who's always alert and watchful, clearly wanting to trust but needing someone willing to show him that people can be kind. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
