Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
This helps Animal Care Centers of NYC | Manhattan with pet care costs.
What my friends at ACC say about me:
My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!
I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.
I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them.
Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy!

Lava Cake has improved significantly during his stay at the care center. Upon approach he is laying in his den, looking at the assessor with neutral eyes and body. When he is softly spoken to, he begins slow blinking, leaning into petting on the head and cheeks. He is initially hesitant to exit the den, but after a few minutes of petting and soft talking he slowly approaches the front of the kennel. He allows and leans into petting, gently head bunting the assessor's hand before ducking back into the den. He is tolerant of gentle upwards pressure applied under his chest and on his sides and continues to lean into petting afterwards.
Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It does not appear that the medical condition is affecting his behavior.
Lava Cake interacts with the observer, solicits and appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. We recommend that Lava Cake go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in new home adjustment, decompression, and fearful behavior.
