The bangs? Chef's kiss. The smile? Pure joy. The manners? A work in progress - and that's okay. Tator came to us after living in a home with too many animals and spending much of his life outdoors. Now he's learning what it means to be an indoor dog and how to channel his big feelings appropriately. When he gets excited to meet people, he sometimes jumps up with an open mouth simply because he doesn't know what else to do with all that enthusiasm - so we recommend a home with older kids who can help him learn calmly. He hasn't had much social time with other dogs, so any resident pup should come meet him first. As a working breed, Tator will shine with an dedicated owner who enjoys training, routine, and giving their dog both mental and physical outlets. HHHS has been a permanent part of the Topeka community since its founding May 4, 1938. The organization is incorporated as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) business for the purpose of sheltering companion animals in need of care, advocating for anti-cruelty protection of animals and promoting humane education and animal welfare issues. HHHS fosters the adoption of companion animals into responsible homes and reunites lost animals with their owners; promotes sterilization of animals to help reduce overpopulation; provides a facility accessible to the general public; serves the community with educational programs addressing animal welfare issues; and maintains a fiscally responsible organization.
