My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Ruston 🐾
4-year-old | Male | Papillon–Chihuahua mix | 9.5 lbs

Looking for a tiny best friend who believes closeness is a love language? Ruston is your guy.

Ruston is a sweet, Velcro-style lap dog who would happily be by your side (or in your arms) all day. He’s a couch potato at heart with just enough playfulness to keep things fun—an easy, low-to-medium energy companion.

He’s wonderfully adaptable and social: great with men, women, other dogs, and largely unbothered by cats. Whether he’s your only pet or joining a small pack, Ruston fits right in.

🏡 Home Life & Habits
Working on house and crate training
Walks nicely on leash
Making great progress with house manners
Can be left alone briefly without any issues
Sleeps through the night in bed like a perfect gentleman

💕 Personality Perks
Ultimate cuddle bug
Gives adorable little nose kisses
Calm, affectionate, and deeply people-oriented

🏠 Ideal Home
Ruston would thrive in a calm home with an adopter who wants a constant companion and doesn’t mind a pup who prefers to be close (very close).

If you’re looking for a tiny, devoted shadow who just wants to share your space—and your couch—Ruston might be your perfect match. 💛

More about this rescue

We're a home-based rescue, so there's always someone around to care for the dogs. Most of our dogs are allowed to roam the main yard (as long as they behave themselves), and we have several food and water stations throughout. Every evening, the dogs are tucked into our kennel building with soft bedding.

Our focus is family-friendly dogs who get along with everyone. Of course, we sometimes don't know a dog's temperament until we meet, but we work hard to ensure dogs are going to the right homes for them.

Mission Statement
To provide rescue, rehabilitation and new loving homes for dogs that have been living on the street, abused, abandoned and removed from high kill shelters.
