My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What has the face of a pug, the body of a doxie, and the brain 🧠 of a chihuahua?!

This guy! 👋

Meet Rocco. He’s weirdly cute and ugly at the same time, sweet but also feisty at the same time. A lot of forces battling it out in his little short 10lbs body.

He can act fresh and tough at first with new people, especially men, and once he forms an opinion and decides he doesn’t like you good luck changing his mind. But once he loves you he’s the sweetest cutest funniest playful-est little sidekick with so much love to give in the right home. He does great with other small dogs, and will hop right on your lap once he decides you are his person. The type who would take on anyone or anything who tried to hurt his mom, personal security system and cuddly security blanket rolled into on. We think he’s about 2 years old and is neutered, updated on shots, in good health and just looking for his perfect match that understands tiny Napoleons and their complex and will make sure visitors you actually like come armed with offerings of chicken and cheese to get in his good graces right away.

Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Rocco in Northern NJ

Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Additional adoption info

We request that adopters fill out a pre-adoption application either on our website. This helps us make sure the animal's personality is a good match for your household. Adoption fees vary according to the dog's age, breed, adoptability, and how much we have had to spend in vet bill on them. Adopters sign a contract at the time of adoption, and the animal must come back to us if they do not work out in the home.
