Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mr. Pickles is a handsome,11-month-old tuxedo boy who loves lounging and hanging with his human! He has a calm personality for his relatively young age. This dapper dude is the ultimate homebody; he always wants to be with his foster mom–anywhere she goes, he will follow.
When she's busy and can't hold him, he will relax on the floor watching everything she's doing–just waiting for an opportunity to paw at her leg, asking to be picked up and cradled like a baby and get snuggles.
He’s an excellent door greeter…ready and waiting every time you walk in, and demanding the immediate attention he so richly deserves.
Mr. Pickles is a really chill guy. He enjoys sitting on the cat tree, watching the fish in the fish tank. He also will chase feather toys once in a while.
Best of all, you don’t need a heated blanket on your bed with Mr. Pickles on the scene–he loves sleeping right next to you and will keep everything toasty warm.
Mr. Pickles currently lives in a duplex with his foster mom, one medium and one small dog, and three older female resident cats. His foster mom’s 23-year-old son also visits for a few days each week.
Mr. Pickles would do best in a quiet home where he will be the only cat (he likes some cats but does not care for others). Cat-friendly dogs who don’t chase him would be okay.
He does get overwhelmed and will go downstairs to escape if there is a lot of company over, which isn’t too often. He likes very gentle touches, especially in his lower back/tail area, so calm older children (tweens/teens) would be best.
Because of his affectionate nature, a forever human who works from home or is around a lot would be perfect, as well as someone who is okay with his role as the resident space heater in bed at night.
If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, snuggly friend who will help keep things cozy this winter, Mr. Pickles is ready and waiting in his best formal outfit!
Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

How We Help

Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
