Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Haku is a sweet and playful, 1-year-old cat looking for his forever home!
This cute guy is very friendly, very vocal, loves people and other cats.
He is very sweet, and follows me around everywhere. He loves to be around people. As soon as I enter the room, he starts chirping from under the bed and comes out while talking the entire time. I call him a little chirping birdie.
This guy is a great story teller and loves to have a conversation. Plus, he is a purring and biscuit-making machine! He’s high-energy and loves to play with all toys, especially catnip, and thrives on lots of entertainment with his humans and his kitty foster brother.
Haku is very friendly and likes to always have a feline friend and his humans around to interact with. However, he does well with quiet time and sleeps soundly at night.
Haku currently lives with his adult humans and his feline foster brother (whom he gets along great with). He hasn’t met any dogs, and would do best with gentle older children.
Haku’s ideal home will be with someone that can give him a lot of attention and affection, play with him regularly, and keep him on a feeding schedule so that he can be healthy and have a routine. He loves to have someone to talk to and someone to pet and hold him. This guy is a fan of being held and just being around humans in general. (Someone who works from home or is around a lot would be great for him.)
Haku will need to go to a home with either another Pet Haven kitty friend, or to a home with an active young resident cat to show him the ropes and be his bff.
Haku will be getting his booster shot soon, and after that time, he is ready to jump into your home and your heart.
There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimates.
Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.
Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer
How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
