If golden retrievers had a slightly rowdier cousin who listened to bluegrass and cannonballed into life headfirst, you’d get Banjo.
Banjo is a 2.5-year-old lab mix who wakes up every day like it’s the best day of his life. Crate door opens? He launches out flinging his front legs in the air like he just won a game show and the prize is YOU. Because it is. You are the prize. And also maybe a tennis ball.
He’s great on leash, house trained, crate trained, and knows how to be a polite gentleman… until it’s playtime. Then he becomes Full Lab Mode™. He plays hard, wrestles enthusiastically, and specializes in rolling in the dirt with his favorite lady friends. He tends to prefer female dogs and older dogs who can appreciate his joyful chaos. (His foster’s female husky? They’re basically WWE champions of the backyard.)
Banjo is high energy and treat motivated. When I say treat motivated, I mean he will learn calculus if snacks are involved. He is not food aggressive with people—but he does inhale his meals like he’s training for a competitive eating contest. Blink and it’s gone.
At home, he’s equal parts goofball and sweetheart. He loves to lay on the rug and chew his bones like a wholesome suburban dad. He’ll happily put his big lab head directly into your lap to request neck scratches (his absolute favorite). He would very much prefer to sleep in bed with you—but if you tell him “off,” he hops down like the respectful boy he is.
He’s got that classic yellow lab coat—stiff, water-resistant, self-cleaning, adventure-approved. Basically built for fun.
Banjo is a happy, goofy, loving young fellow who needs an active home ready to embrace his zest for life. If you’ve been looking for a loyal best friend who will wrestle, snuggle, launch dramatically out of crates, and love you with his entire goofy heart…
Banjo is ready to strike up a tune inI your life.
