My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My foster writes: Meet Cookie your future cuddle buddy and playtime partner! This sweet, affectionate girl loves people, adores kids, and will happily climb into your lap for snuggles. She's playful, gentle, and full of happy energy, but also knows how to relax and nap the day away. If you're looking for a loving, friendly companion who will greet you with kisses and endless affection, Cookie is your girl! 💕

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets.

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I don't always like to share my food, toys or bedding with other animals.

I would do best in a home with only adult humans.

A volunteer writes: Cookie 🍪 when I approached her kennel, Cookie looked a bit concerned. She was new to the shelter and didn't know the routine yet. She put her ears away and low wagged her tail. But her concerns quickly melted away as we walked together, and then sat in the yard. We put her in an adorable fleece that she was born to model, and she propped right up onto my lap.

Something that will surprise no one who follows us is that we love a sugary muzzle. And Cookie's is elite especially if you consider her young age of only 6! She's a little cuddle monster and while 53lbs she feels more petite to me.

Cookie came in with her sister Nala. Her guardian reported that she spent a lot of time in her crate or the yard. Now we want a soft life for our sugar faced girl. Couches and beds and blankets galore. Cookie is best as a solo dog.

Cookie is a clever and food-motivated dog participating in our Shelter Scholars program, where she's developing impulse control through the Leave It cue. Whether it's a tasty snack or a tempting object, Cookie is learning to pause and check in instead of grabbing. Her quick thinking and strong focus are helping her excel in this essential skill.
