Dexter is the perfect cuddle buddy and the perfect hiking buddy. He’s only four years old, extremely healthy and energetic. Yet he’s fine curling up in a circle bed at your feet when you’re watching TV or working. He’s been excellent about going outside, loves walking, eating and sometimes singing. He is also fine to be passed into someone else’s arms and will curl up on their lap, even if they are a perfect stranger. Though he definitely prefers female energy he’s untested with cats or children, but he has been cohabitating with an older dog and enjoys walking side-by-side on the street. Dexter will need a patient owner to help him adjust to the fact that his owners gave him up and left him at the shelter. He’s grieving and will need some time to feel safe and loved again. He will also need some socialization and help learning how to play with toys, but there will be no more loyal companion once he is bonded with you.

Interview
We will contact you via email to let you know if the dog is still available and to book a telephone call interview.

Meet the Pet
We'll invite you to meet the dog at a fair, or in some cases at the foster's home. Dogs over 6mos will go to a 1 week adoption trial.
4.
Home Check
When the pup is in your home we'll follow up to see how it's going and volunteer will visit you for a home check
5.
Sign Adoption Contract
If all goes well you'll come to our next adoption fair to FINALIZE! Pay the fee, sign the contract, get your photo!

Dogs Without Borders screens potential applicants to make sure the dog is right fit for their home. We require an adoption application and a home-check. Our adoption fees are $325 for dogs over 1 year, $350 for puppies 6months - 1 year, and $425 for puppies under 6 months. All dogs are spayed/ neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption. We also give new owners an ID tag.
