**Rey is currently in foster care, if you`re interested in meeting her, please fill out an adoption questionnaire on our website https://everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-Pet and we will be in touch to schedule an appointment.
Meet Rey — the Sweetest Little Shadow You’ll Ever Have Rey is a gentle 5-year-old chihuahua mix weighing in at 18 pounds, and she’s one of six siblings who came to the shelter terrified and under-socialized. While the world still feels a bit big to her, Rey has been blossoming beautifully in foster care, showing just how much love she has to give.
A Calm, Easy Companion Rey is a quiet, low-maintenance girl who spends most of her day snoozing on the couch next to her foster. She’s still decompressing from her past, so naps are her love language right now, but she has adorable little bursts of energy that peek through. She’s not into toys yet, but a good bone? Absolutely.
Apartment-Friendly & Polite Rey has not barked once in foster care — not at knocks on the door, not at people on walks, not even during potty breaks. She’s shaping up to be a dream for apartment living.
She’s also learning the routine of going outside. Her foster can easily slip a leash on by the door or out on the balcony, and Rey understands that means it’s time for a walk. She does well on leash and enjoys the fresh air at her own gentle pace.
Crate-Comfortable & Couch-Approved Rey sleeps well in her crate and also loves curling up on the couch. She likely won’t need to be crated during the workday, but having it as a cozy sleeping space seems to help her feel secure.
Growing Braver Every Day This sweet girl is slowly discovering the joy of affection. She’s beginning to lean into behind-the-ear and top-of-the-head scratches, and she’ll quietly follow her foster around the home — especially into the kitchen — without begging or being pushy. Her confidence is building, and with time, she’s sure to become a wonderful lap dog and cuddly companion.
Who She’s Looking For Rey would thrive in a calm, patient home that understands she’s still learning how to feel safe. Her foster thinks she’d be the perfect match for an older person or anyone wanting an easy, gentle friend to share quiet days with. She doesn’t need much — just kindness, consistency, and a soft place to land.

Adoptions by Appointment
We've got awesome dogs, cats and other critters waiting for new families to come and adopt! The adoption process begins online, and all adoptions are done by appointment only. In most cases, animals are eligible to go home right away, so be prepared for your new animal to leave with you.
- Potential adopters complete an online adoption questionnaire at https://www.everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-Pet .
- If approved, adopters can then interact with the animal they wish to adopt. It is best for all members of the household to meet the animal prior to going home. Note: Shelter staff reserve the right to deny any adoption if we feel it is not in the best interest of the animal.
- Renters bring rental pet policy at time of adoption. Not having the rental pet policy available may delay or nullify an adoption.
- Adopters must be 18 years or older, and have valid drivers license or photo identification.
- Pet licenses are required for dogs and cats in the City of Everett and unincorporated Snohomish County.
- The adoption fee must be paid at the time of adoption. We accept Visa, Mastercard or cash. We are unable to accept checks for payment of fees or services.
