My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pyrite, a brown tabby with a name that sounds like a treasure and a look to match. Like the “fool’s gold” Pyrite is named after, this handsome boy has that warm, gleaming tabby glow that catches the light just right, plus a natural talent for making ordinary moments feel a little more special. He is also very sweet, the kind of cat who makes friends quickly once he knows you are kind.

Pyrite does have a slight head tilt, which gives him an extra dash of character, like he is always listening closely to your secrets or considering your snack offerings with great seriousness. Our medical team has already started treatment and his balance has been improving. He eats well, plays, and has a great quality of life. His tilt may improve more with time, or it may simply remain as part of his signature look.

If you are looking for a truly charming tabby who feels like a lucky find, come meet Pyrite and see why this one is the real deal.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1868, The SF SPCA is a community-supported nonprofit dedicated to saving, protecting and caring for cats and dogs. We do this through immediate care of animals that are homeless, ill or in need of an advocate, but we also work to educate the community, reduce the number of unwanted kittens and puppies through spaying/neutering, and improve the quality of life for animals and their companions.
