My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Wookie — the 25-pound bundle of scruffy sweetness you didn’t know you needed 🐾💕

Wookie is rocking that adorable “tiny Wookiee” look, and we think she might be a Brug (Brussels Griffon + Pug mix) or possibly a Brussels Griffon blend with another mystery ingredient of cute. Whatever the mix is… it’s working.

This girl is as gentle as they come. She does great with other dogs and has a soft, loving nature. Wookie can be a little shy when meeting new people — she just likes a minute to take everything in and make sure the vibes are good. But once she feels safe and trusts you? Ohhh, that’s when the magic happens ✨ She blossoms into the sweetest, most loyal little companion who just wants to be near her person.

She’s the kind of dog who bonds deeply, loves quietly, and will absolutely steal your heart without even trying.

If you’re looking for a best friend with soulful eyes, a teddy bear face, and a gentle spirit, Wookie might just be your girl 💖

More about this rescue

The mission of the Raise the Bar-N Foundation is to rescue, care for, and provide compassion to abused and neglected animals, educate the community about responsible pet ownership, and provide opportunities to children and adults with disabilities. We strive to give the voiceless a voice.

My husband and I have been rescuing for years. We also do a great deal with the autism/special needs community. We are hoping to save more animals and help build bonds between animals and children with disabilities. My husband is a firefighter and ex-professional hockey player. I am an expert working with children with disabilities, especially autism. I am passionate about giving the voiceless a "voice".
