My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TEXAS. HER ADOPTION DONATION IS $475 AND INCLUDES TRANSPORT. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO AS IT INCLUDES INFORMATION AS TO OUR SCREENING PROCESS.

***Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time***

We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.

Please note our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation.

Artie, 3 years old, spayed female, Terrier mix, 32 pounds. She is located in San Antonio, Texas and available to transport out of State to an adopter.

Artie is a fun-loving, high-energy girl who is always ready for her next adventure. Whether it’s a long game of fetch, a run in the yard, or zooming around the house with her favorite toys, Artie brings enthusiasm and joy wherever she goes. She’s incredibly smart, playful, and affectionate, and she absolutely loves people. Meeting new friends is one of her favorite things, and she greets strangers with pure excitement and a wagging tail.

Artie thrives in an active environment and will do best with a family that enjoys walks, playtime, and outdoor activities. She has done well with large dogs (50–100 lbs) in her foster home, though slow introductions are important. She can be a little on edge at first and is protective of her toys but she backs off quickly and has never escalated beyond that. She also recognizes when another dog is done playing. On leash, she may bark or pull when she sees other dogs, so continued training will help her polish those manners.

She is house trained and crate trained, sleeping in her crate at night and staying crated about 4–6 hours during the day. She may whine a bit, but she settles. Artie should continue to be crated when left alone, as she is curious and can get into things on counters if unsupervised. She rides great in the car, handles stairs with no problem, and loves chewing on toys and cuddling up after a good play session.

Artie has not been around cats and hasn’t spent time with children yet, but her friendly and affectionate personality suggests she could do well with proper introductions. She eats separately from other pets currently, though she has shown no food guarding toward people and typically backs off if another dog has something she wants.

Her ideal home would be active, patient, and ready to continue her training—especially helping her learn how to settle calmly and share toys more comfortably. A yard or open space to run would be a huge bonus, and while she doesn’t need another dog, she would likely enjoy a playful canine companion.

Artie is independent, outgoing, curious, and wonderfully silly. She’s the kind of dog who will make you laugh daily, keep you moving, and then curl up beside you for snuggles at the end of the day. She’s ready to find her forever family and bring her big personality and even bigger heart into a loving home.

***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
