My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jovie, our sweet 14-year-old girl who's the queen of naps and cuddles.

She's got a heart as warm as her favorite cozy spot, and she loves nothing more than curling up for a long, peaceful snooze. If there's a sunny patch or a soft blanket nearby, you can bet Jovie will be there, dreaming away.

Her favorite thing in the world is snacks, especially wet food. She'll happily remind you with her gentle purrs that life is better with good food and a little love. Jovie is a true cuddle bug, and she adores spending her time close to someone who will keep her warm and give her all the cuddles a gal could ask for. Whether you're sitting still or just hanging out, she loves being by your side, making everything feel a little brighter and a lot more special.

Right now, Jovie is searching for a foster-to-adopt home while she awaits her dental surgery in March. She's hoping to find a kind and loving family who will give her a warm, safe place to rest and recover. Her gentle spirit and sweet presence remind us that sometimes, the simplest joys, like a warm lap and a tasty treat is all you need.

The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
