My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you ready for some chaotic good in your life? Pearly is a spunky one year old girl who can’t wait to brighten your days. She’s a total sweetheart – she cuddles but doesn’t cling, and follows you around like a shadow without demanding your attention. She can be alone for the day but always at the door to welcome you home, waiting to plop in your lap and hear about your day. At night, her favorite spot to sleep is curled up right by your head, ready to give you good morning kisses.

Her sweetheart first impression has also made way for a demonic fun side, and you’ll catch her zooming around the house with a toothy grin and a glimmer in her eyes. She has endless energy for play and her favorite game is ‘walk the human’ – catching a wand toy and then leading you around like you’re a dog on a leash. You’ll probably get tired of this before she does, but she can also entertain herself for hours batting a little stuffed mouse around the apartment.

Her favorite thing to do with you is making the bed. When you start to shake out the covers, her eyes glaze over before she darts in for subterranean zoomies. When you poke your head under she’ll freeze and lock eyes with you before diving into her new gymnastics combo. The more you laugh, the crazier she gets. Isn’t that what we all want in life, a companion to make all the little mundane things more fun?

As chaotic as she is, she’s also a fast learner and rather considerate, and maybe even responsible? She never quickly figured out her foster home’s ‘recommendations’ of staying off the kitchen counters and not scratching the furniture. It’s also clear she thinks she’s the responsible caretaker of the household. She loves to groom and nibble you even more than she likes to be pet, she loves to hold your hand ever-so-gently with both paws, and she never bites or scratches.

Pearly can’t wait to find a forever bestie who’s ready for some chaotic good in their life. She’ll make you laugh every day, help you make the bed, and remind you that you can always have little demon time, as a treat.

This cat would prefer to be adopted alone and be the only cat in the home.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
