"Tonto is a slow-burn kind of guy, but once he warms up he is so worth the wait. This funny little dude is affectionate, cuddly, and full of quiet charm 🥰 He’s the type who will make you laugh with his awkward zoomies and then curl up for a long, peaceful nap right after.
Why we love Tonto:
Crate trained and a dream about it – not a peep overnight or during the day
Very quiet overall (we honestly haven’t heard him bark yet!)
Low energy with adorable bursts of zoomies on his long, stilt-like legs
Content to chill, lounge, and nap most of the day
Low-shed coat
Doing great with house training when taken out regularly
Not a marker 👍🏼
Things to know before adopting:
Tonto is a dog who values his personal space. He doesn’t like feeling cornered and prefers not to be picked up when he’s cozy on the couch or resting in his crate. Respecting his boundaries helps him feel safe and confident.
He’s kid-friendly with dog-savvy kids — he does well with older children (11+) who are gentle and understand when to give him space. He would not be a good fit for homes with young kids who want to pick him up or interact on their own terms.
With other dogs, “dog tolerant” is a better description than dog social butterfly. He can coexist with other dogs, but he has shown some resource guarding with bones, comfy couch spots, and human laps (as most small dogs do).
The perfect home for Tonto:
A calm, understanding home that appreciates a quieter dog, respects boundaries, and enjoys a sweet companion who blossoms with trust. If you’re looking for a low-key, affectionate buddy who just wants to feel safe and loved, Tonto might be your guy 💙. He is 4 years old and 12.8 lbs."
Tonto is being fostered in Lone Tree, Colorado.
*We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.*
