My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beau is a stunning,Akita (best guess) mix puppy with an approximate date of birth in mid-November 2025—and he’s already well on his way to stealing hearts everywhere he goes. Along with his good looks, Beau is incredibly smart, sweet, and full of puppy charm.

That said, Beau is still very much a puppy. He’s doing well with house training and continuing to learn that pottying outside is the goal. The good news? He loves the cold and snow, so winter adventures are right up his alley—if you’re looking for a winter puppy, Beau is your guy.

Beau isn’t a huge fan of the crate just yet, but he’s making progress and learning that it’s not such a bad place. He sleeps through the night, which is a big win for any puppy parent. He gets along great with his foster brothers and sisters, including dogs and cats, and has been living successfully with an older child.

Because Beau is young and still explores the world with his mouth , he is looking for a home with children ages 10 and older who can understand puppy boundaries and training. We also prefer a home with a securely fenced in yard and an active family who are home often to help him grow into a happy social adult

Beau is an active, playful pup who will thrive with a family committed to continued training, exercise, and structure. In return, he’ll be a loyal, loving companion ready to grow up by your side.

If you’re ready for puppy energy, snowy adventures, and a lifetime of companionship, Beau may be the perfect match.

If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet!

The adoption fee of $550 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed!

*please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.

Go meet their pets

We are not a shelter. We are a group of pet lovers and advocates who are committed to targeted rescue. Starfish Animal Rescue is a licensed rescue that is run by an all volunteer staff.
Once we rescue a dog or cat, it is placed in one of our foster homes until we are able to find it a suitable home. We are happy to set up an appointment to meet our pets once we receive and review your completed application.

We do our best to process applications quickly but please understand that we are a foster based rescue and that our volunteers work jobs; many are full time. Sending in a completed application is the best way to facilitate this process. You can go on our website www.starfishanimalrescue.com and download an application
Once your application is reviewed, we will put you in contact with the dog's foster family to set up a time to meet the pet of your choice!
Thank you for supporting our rescue and what we are trying to accomplish in southeastern Kentucky.
