Rosa’s story is one of quiet resilience and gentle hope. Over a year ago, she was found on the streets of Mexico, dragging her back legs—alone, hurting, and unsure of what kindness felt like. What she’s become since then is nothing short of remarkable. With good nutrition, patience, and so much love, Rosa has begun to walk again. Her back legs are still a little unsteady, and she has some nerve damage from a spinal injury—possibly from being rolled by a car—but she adapts beautifully. On carpet she moves with confidence, and with a few well-placed rugs, she navigates her world just fine.
Rosa is a sweet, shy, 3-year-old mixed breed with the softest soul. She may take a few days to warm up, especially around men, but once she feels safe, her gentle affection shines through. She’s kennel trained and still working on potty training, and she’ll thrive with consistent, positive reinforcement in her forever home. Walks are a slow, mindful experience with Rosa—she’s learning the leash and loves to stop and take in the world around her… even when it’s below freezing.
She needs a calm, quiet home where she can feel secure. Rosa is skittish and startles easily, so a peaceful environment is key. Because of her physical limitations, she’s looking for a home without kids and without dogs who might jump or wrestle with her. At just 27 pounds, she’s a petite little lady with a tender heart and a deep appreciation for safety and love.
Rosa carries a few scars from her past, but they only tell part of her story. The rest is written in her soft eyes, her careful steps, and the joy she shows every day in her loving foster home. She is so grateful to be here—and she’s ready for a forever family who will cherish her for exactly who she is.
If you believe in second chances and quiet miracles, Rosa may be your girl.

More about this rescue
Camp Companion is a 501c3 organization established in 2003.
Based in Rochester MN, the organization is totally driven by volunteers.
Camp Companion is dedicated to providing low-cost spay and neuter services for feral, farm and stray companion animals. The organization is funded solely by donations, fundraisers, grants, and adoption fees. All funds we receive are used for veterinary expenses and the cost of care incurred for the animals waiting for their forever homes.
Through our spay / neuter efforts, we encounter kittens and stray domestic cats that need rescue services and a forever home. We have no shelter, but rely on foster homes to care for these rescued pets. Every animal we offer for adoption is spayed or neutered.
