She’s terrified of the world, yes—but she is also unfailingly sweet. She hides most of the day, tucking herself into her box like it’s her safe harbor. And yet, when you reach in to pet her, she purrs. She leans into it. You can pick her up. She never hisses. Not once. Even at her most frightened, Bubbies has only ever been gentle.
Bubbies came from outdoors and was originally meant to be TNR’d, but she was simply too nice to send back out. We wanted to give her a chance at something better. The transition has been hard on her—so hard that at first she pulled some of her own fur from stress—but after two weeks in foster care, she’s stopped. That alone tells us she’s trying. And she’s improving.
She’s looking for a quiet place to land. A low-traffic home. A calm human. A bathroom, a bedroom, or even a kennel setup at first would be just fine—Bubbies actually prefers small spaces where she can feel protected. She does come out when no one is around (yes, we have the camera footage to prove it), and she may happily take on night-shift mouse patrol in your basement while you sleep.
Commotion scares her. Noise scares her. Pressure scares her. What she needs is time, patience, and permission to exist quietly until she decides the world isn’t so terrifying after all.
Bubbies is not barn-cat material. She’s an indoor soul, especially with her long coat, which needs protection from matting and the elements. She just needs someone willing to let her be exactly who she is, without expectations or timelines.
Her beloved red box with the blanket she calls home is included in her adoption. It’s her anchor—and maybe, in time, you’ll be one too.
