Marshmallow is a doll, a lovebug, an adorable menace, and your new best friend! She has suffered too much at the hands of humans, and yet she has never been anything but a loving and affectionate velcro kitty. She still loves people and wants to be your cuddle bug best friend!!
Marshy was adopted from the Harris County shelter in November 2024. In March 2025, she was dumped in front of the shelter clinic and then run over by her owners as they drove away. At just 10 months old she suffered a broken and dislocated jaw, cracked teeth, and head and throat swelling. The county shelter did not have the resources to treat her injuries, and reached out to local rescues for help. The ROSES community stepped up for Marshy, and got her the treatment she needed.
Marshy had surgery on her jaw, and had a feeding tube installed. Her foster fed her manually for at least a week. AND NOW MARSHMALLOW IS THRIVING! After making a full recovery she is ready to be adopted into an only cat home where she can be the star of your show every day.
Marshy is so special and deserves a special home. The primary lingering issue from her accident is partial blindness. Right after the accident, she was blind as a bat. She has improved dramatically since then, but her vision is very limited and it seems that she has no peripheral vision and poor depth perception. She is so brave and ready to figure out her environment despite her limited sight.
Because she cannot see very well, Marshy needs some time to get used to new places and needs a stable, loving environment where she can thrive. She gets a little nervous jumping off of things when she can't touch the floor first, but she is so brave and will learn to navigate her environment quickly!
---
Marshy would likely do best in a home where things are generally consistent, and she doesn't have to adapt to new environments very often. She would do well with older children who can understand and respect her needs and limitations while she continues to recover. For her safety, she absolutely cannot go outside unless it is in a fully enclosed catio or porch.
Marshmallow is ~1.5 years old, spayed and microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and in great health! She does a great job of keeping her litterbox tidy. All she needs now is her forever home.

Marshy is currently in Seattle, Washington with a loving foster, and due to her medical condition we are considering local adoption options only.
ABOUT OUR ADOPTION FEES:
When you adopt from ROSES Rescues, you're doing more than giving your new family member a home. Each adoption fee pays for a cat on the streets of Houston to get fixed, helping end the cycle of overpopulation in a rough environment. We thank you so much for your contribution to our efforts!
