Sunny is a sweet, sensitive soul around 2 years old who came to us from a small town in New Mexico, where he was found as a stray with his litter. He’s since made the journey to Illinois and is now looking for a calm, understanding home to call his own.
Sunny is very shy at first, but once he feels safe and trusts you, he truly shines. He loves laying close to his people and quietly soaking up affection—he’s the ultimate couch companion. If you’re searching for a bold, outgoing, life-of-the-party dog, Sunny isn’t your guy. But if your perfect evening includes cuddling on the couch and watching Dateline with a gentle, loyal companion, our Sunny Bunny just might be your match.
Sunny looks to his humans for reassurance and guidance. He’s not one to boldly try new things on his own—whether it’s hopping on the couch or entering a new room, he’ll check in with his people first to make sure it’s safe and okay. He thrives with patient humans who can gently encourage and support him.
He is about 98% potty and house trained and does well in a kennel when needed.
Dog friendly? Possibly—with management. Sunny currently lives in a foster home with multiple dogs and is very submissive. His best friend is a 5-lb Chihuahua! However, there was a serious incident when Sunny was left unsupervised and another dog was injured. We don’t know what triggered the situation, so for everyone’s safety, Sunny should be crated when his humans are not home and carefully managed around other dogs. A home where he can be the only dog, or one with experienced owners who understand management and supervision, may be the best fit.
Sunny is incredibly loyal to the people he trusts. He’s a deeply sensitive boy who wants nothing more than to feel safe, loved, and reassured by his humans. With patience and understanding, Sunny Bunny will be a devoted and loving companion.
