My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everyone. My name is MAY and here is a little info about me:
Breed: Jindo/Husky mix
Age: 4-1/2 yrs
Gender: female
Weight: 27 kg
Height: 50 cm
Country of origin: Canada originally (presently in Korea)
Highlight(s): balanced energy - active/calm, affectionate, people-loving, gentle, cuddly, sweet

I am a sweet, affectionate, and people-loving dog, who was originally born in Quebec.

Entering my human’s life when I was just two months old, from the very beginning, we grew up  best friends. Together we spent our early years in Canada, sharing daily walks, outdoor adventures, and quiet moments at home. We built countless memories along the way. I have always been a loyal companion who stayed by my human’s side through every new chapter.

Life changed when we relocated to South Korea. The environment was very different from the wide green spaces and outdoor lifestyle I was accustomed to in Canada. Living in a busy downtown area with limited greenery, combined with my long work hours (sometimes 12 hrs at a time), made it difficult for her to give me the active outdoor life & time together I thrive upon.

Because of the deep love and responsibility toward my happiness, my human has made the difficult and emotional decision to look for a new forever home for me.

One that can offer more time, outdoor activity, and a nature-friendly environment with comfortable weather where I can fully enjoy walks, play, and daily companionship. Hence, back to Canada again. I am a well behaved pupper, my human is just hoping to find a caring family or individual who can spend more time with me, match my joyful energy outdoors, and give me the warm, stable life I deserve for the rest of my years.

With a wonderful balance of energy and calmness, you will find I am the perfect companion. Outdoors, I am energetic and enjoy walks, playtime, and exploring my surroundings, as you will find out with my muscularly fit build. At home, I become very gentle, relaxed, and cuddly... often resting quietly like a “little angel.” I rarely bark and typically only do so when I encounter something unusual or unfamiliar, such as strange objects.

I am good with other dogs. I do however, get too excited to meet and can approach another dog too quickly and roughly, which can cause another dog to react defensively. So a little work there will help. If the other dog is relaxed about things, I am happy to follow up with play.

I absolutely love people and warmly welcome new friends. I am especially friendly with adults and seniors and enjoy spending time with them. I also like children (no video), though supervision is recommended, because I sometimes become too excited and may jump up to give enthusiastic kisses. Don't want to be knocking anyone down, so LAL policy age best. I'm sure a bit more training could assist with this though.

Energy Level: moderate overall (high with outside activity, low when inside)

I get along with:
Dogs: yes
Cats: no
Kids: unknown (rescuer states yes, but no video proof)

Fears: Deep water where my paws can't touch the ground.

Training:
Leash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.
House trained: yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home.

Health notes:
I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and (microchipped?)

My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.

Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.

Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.

Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.

Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.

The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.

Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.

While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee.

[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.

[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper.

More about this rescue

Loved At Last Dog Rescue operates in the Greater Vancouver area. We rescue and rehome local dogs as well as homeless dogs from numerous countries around the world, including Mexico, Korea, China, Iran, Kuwait, Bahrain and India. Many of these dogs have experienced hardship and cruelty yet they are gentle and loving. We have found that dogs who have experienced suffering appreciate every kindness shown them. All our dogs are fully vaccinated, microchipped and those over 6 months are spayed or neutered.
