Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Aldrich 💙
Aldrich is a true survivor—and now, he’s finally ready for his forever home.
He was found injured and roaming the streets of Cleveland, Texas—an area heartbreakingly known as a dumping ground where so many dogs don’t make it. When he was first spotted, Aldrich had deep, open wounds on both shoulders. We initially feared he had been shot, but his injuries were more consistent with being caught in barbed wire or fencing—likely tearing himself free in a desperate attempt to escape. Based on his condition and behavior, we believe he had been surviving on his own for over a year.
It took two long weeks to safely trap him. He arrived at his foster home still inside the trap and had to be transferred directly into a kennel. For the first 48 hours, Aldrich didn’t move. He was completely shut down—terrified, traumatized, and in pain. He had to be carried everywhere.
Today, Aldrich is absolutely thriving. He recently moved to a new foster home to test his adaptability and how he’d handle new surroundings—and he has exceeded every expectation. He’s exploring, engaging, and truly coming out of his shell. He initiates play with his dog friends, follows their lead, and continues to grow more confident every day. Watching him learn how to just be a dog has been nothing short of incredible.
Aldrich will still need a calm, patient home that understands his journey and allows him to move at his own pace. Most importantly, he must have a confident doggie companion in his forever home—other dogs give him comfort and help him feel safe. With canine friends by his side and gentle guidance from his people, he continues to blossom.
He may not be the dog who rushes up to greet strangers—but he is the dog who will bond deeply, love quietly, and reward your patience with unwavering loyalty.
After everything he’s endured, Aldrich deserves safety, consistency, and a forever family who will never give up on him again. And now, for the first time in a very long time… he’s ready. 💙
