My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mr. Magee

Mr. Magee is the definition of a gentle soul. With his laid‑back charm and quiet confidence, he's the kind of cat who doesn't need to be the center of attention to make a big impression. In the shelter environment he can seem a bit aloof and independent, but that's simply because he's waiting for the right home where he can truly unwind and show his full personality.

This sweet boy dreams of a cozy space to stretch out, relax, and claim as his own. Give him a sunny spot, a soft blanket, or a quiet corner, and he'll be in heaven. And if you really want to win him over, bring out the cat tubes! Mr. Magee adores them and will happily devour an entire tube without hesitation.

He's the perfect match for someone who appreciates a calm, easygoing companion. With a little time and a peaceful home environment, Mr. Magee will flourish into the affectionate, content cat he's meant to be.

If you're looking for a mellow friend who brings serenity and sweetness into your home, Mr. Magee is ready to sprawl out and settle in.

Walk-ins are prioritized.

We are open to walk in's Tuesday - Saturday 12 pm -4 pm (except for Stat Holidays).

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
