My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sophie: 30ish pounds of permanent wiggles.

If joy had a physical form, it would be a pocket-sized pit bull named Sophie.

Sophie is small enough to fit perfectly in your lap and confident enough to believe she is actually a 150-pound life coach sent here to improve your mood. Her tail? It has two settings: wag and warp speed. We're fairly certain it could propel her up into space if she tried hard enough. NASA scientists are frankly, baffled.

This girl is SILLY silly. She does full-body wiggles when she's excited (which is always), play bows at inappropriate times, and occasionally forgets that her back legs are attached to the rest of her. Toys? Yes. Zoomies? Definitely. Dramatic flops for belly rubs? Regularly.

Sophie loves every human she meets. Tall, small, even the ones that claim they're not "dog-people." Sophie exists to charm them all. If you're looking for a dog with endless zest for life, a permanently wagging backside, and the emotional depth of a golden retriever in a fun-sized pup package - Sophie is your girl to the moon and back.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1941 by the third female graduate from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, SAVE is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit animal shelter dedicated to protecting the health and welfare of homeless companion animals in the greater Princeton area and beyond. Through six core programs of Rescue, Shelter, Health and Welfare, Spay/Neuter, Foster and Adoption.

The SAVE shelter facility has the capacity to house upwards of 100 animals at a time (approximately 75 cats and 25 dogs). The shelter exceeds no-kill benchmark standards and ensures that adoptable animals facing adversity are given a lifeline, a chance to flourish, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
