My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Moose: Your New Best Friend (and Professional Shadow)!

At just 16 months old and approx. 15lbs, Moose is a handsome Havanese/Bichon Frise mix and the perfect blend of puppy energy and heart-melting charm. A true social butterfly, Moose lives for playtime, long walks, and being exactly where you are at all times. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will make sure you never feel alone, Moose is your guy.
Moose was surrendered through no fault of his own. His previous family loved him very much, but with a busy household full of young children, they realized they didn’t have the time a young, active pup like Moose deserves. He’s now ready for a home that can give him the attention and fun he thrives on.

The Highlights
Personality: Playful, affectionate, and full of that classic puppy energy and curiosity.
Social Life: A total socialite! Moose is great with people, children, and other dogs.

Skills: Knows his basic commands and is fully crate trained—he’s happy to settle in his crate when left home alone.

Hobbies: Chasing his favorite ball, exploring the neighborhood, and absolutely loving the snow! He’s a true fan of the great outdoors.
Maintenance: As a Havanese/Bichon mix, Moose will need regular grooming to keep his coat soft, fluffy, and mat-free.

The Ideal Home
Moose is looking for a family that can embrace his “big puppy” spirit. His dream home includes:
• A Fenced Yard: Because he’s young and full of beans, a fenced yard is ideal. It gives him a safe space to burn off energy and pounce on snowflakes.
• A Local Lifestyle: Moose can get car sick, so he’d prefer a home where daily adventures are within walking distance while he continues building his confidence with car rides.
• Cat-Free (or Cautious): He has not been cat-tested yet, so his feelings about feline friends are still unknown.

Room to Grow
Moose is a smart boy, but like any teenager, he’s still learning and growing! He would benefit from a patient owner who can continue working on:
• Leash Skills & Recall: He gets excited about the world around him and will thrive with continued guidance on walking manners and coming when called.
•Polishing His Manners: Like many young dogs, Moose can be expressive at times and will do best with consistent, positive reinforcement to help him learn when to settle and relax.

The Verdict: Moose is a stunning, loyal, and energetic pup who just needs a little guidance and a yard to call his own. If you have a ball to throw and a cozy spot beside you, he’s ready to become your new best friend.

Moose is being fostered in Mount Albert and will be neutered on Feb. 19.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to rescue and rehome unwanted, abandoned, abused and unloved pets that find themselves alone and frightened in shelters. These animals give unconditional love and should receive the same love back. Unfortunately there is a need and while ever there is a need we will be there to help. Our long term goal is to build towards the opening of our own shelter and be able to help with behavioral issues, special needs, and to offer a haven to less adoptable pets. We are always very thankful for any pet related donations to assist the animals in our care
