My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hydra! This outgoing and friendly cat came to the SPCA from a home with too many cats to manage. She had been raising her kittens but is now looking for her chance at her own fur-ever family. Hydra would likely do well in a home with other animals, particularly another cat or two, with proper, slow introductions. She may be fine with cat savvy children as well given time to adjust as she is very affectionate and loves attention, demanding it by calling out and rubbing up against you affectionately. Hydra is used to being an indoor cat and will make a great addition to any home and certainly be a wonderful, loving companion. She is a delightful lady with a loving personality. Hydra is used to being an indoor only cat. Whoever meets her can't help but fall in love with this fantastic feline. Could you be the lucky one to take her home?
*HYDRA IS AWAITING A POTENTIAL DENTAL SURGERY BUT ADOPTES MAY HAVE THE OPTION TO FOSTER TO ADOPT UNTIL CARE IS DONE. Ask staff for more info.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
