My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dio — the ball‑loving, people‑pleasing superstar!

Dio is a friendly, outgoing, and wonderfully loyal companion who’s ready to bring joy to his new family. He is an approximately 3-year-old Lab-Chow Chow mix weighing 67 lbs.  He’s fully house‑trained and no longer uses a crate, choosing instead to snooze wherever he feels most comfortable in the home.

His absolute favorite thing in the world is playing ball — nothing makes him happier. He also enjoys a good chew bone, leisurely walks (he’s great on leash), and especially “sniff” adventures where he can explore the world with his nose. Car rides aren’t his favorite, but he’ll tolerate them when needed.

Dio gets along well with dogs, cats, and kids. Because he doesn’t always realize how big he is, a home with children over 3 years old may be the best fit. He grew up with a Shih Tzu and loves to play, though his enthusiasm can be a bit much for more delicate playmates.

This smart boy knows an impressive list of cues — sit, stay, come, spin, twirl, down, and bed. He’s highly treat‑ and play‑motivated, eager to learn, and loves making his people proud.

While a fenced yard isn’t required, it would be helpful. Dio prefers not to go #2 on leash, so having a fenced space (or even a tie‑out) gives him the freedom he needs to take care of business comfortably.

If you’re looking for an adaptable, affectionate, and fun‑loving companion who’s always ready for a game of fetch or a sniffing adventure, Dio might just be your perfect match.

His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.

He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
