My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kevin is doing well after recovering from near starvation. He was confiscated from his owner when a tip led to his rescue. We are told when he wasn't on a chain outdoors he was confined for lengthy time is a crate. His spirit is great and he is filling out and his hair loss is coming back. He is deaf and 12 yrs old. He is.great with people and seems good with cats. Non-alpha chill dogs only for Kevin. He prefers a no rough house kinda day. Videos available upon request.

We are a rural shelter with high intakes. As a result, the shelter dogs are not guaranteed safety. We do our best but, we need help.

More about this shelter

The Friends of Powell County’s Pets is a Non-profit organization located in Powell County Kentucky. FOPCP works closely with Powell County’s animal control to increase the visibility of adoptable pets living in the county’s shelter, and to place these pets in rescues or forever homes. Any donation or grant money received goes to directly support the care of homeless cats and dogs in Powell County and to facilitate their transportation to no-kill facilities in the United States and Canada. Care includes emergency and acute veterinarian care, vaccinations, heartworm treatment/prevention, internal and external parasite treatment/prevention, spay/neuter, and treatment of communicable infectious illnesses among cats and dogs. We also strive to educate the community about the importance of spaying and neutering while providing low-cost spay and neuter clinics.
